Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bounteous.
Director
I applied online for a Director role and interviewed over a few weeks. They clearly explained the process, which would end with a final validation call with the group leader if things went well. I had about five or six rounds with people of different expertise. I kept getting really good feedback, so they set up the last interview, as per their process. But just a few hours before it, someone from Bounteous canceled, saying business things had changed, though they weren't sure how. I tried contacting the recruiter multiple times to find out what was going on, but they never replied. It went from a great experience to a terrible one really fast. Changes happen, but after investing so much time as a candidate, you'd expect at least some courtesy, especially from a company that talks about its great culture.
- Describe your leadership experience in a matrixed organization.
Director
The hiring process began with a screening/phone interview. This was followed by about 3 to 4 interviews with different team members and the prospective manager. Some questions and topics came up more than once across the interviews, and it seemed like interviewers didn't always share information. Still, it was a good experience overall.
- What would be your main priorities in the first 3-6 months if you got this job?
Director
Recruiter reached out about a role that sounded like a good match. We discussed salary expectations early on. Had three rounds of interviews and still no decision. The recruiter seemed unsure about salary expectations and then mentioned I might need to interview with another executive and a future colleague. The recruiter gave positive feedback about the interviews I'd already completed. After three weeks with no updates from the recruiter, the job posting disappeared. I assume they hired someone, but I never got a response, not even a standard rejection notice.
