Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bon-Ton Stores.
Sales
It was a basic interview with simple questions. The interviewer was nice and was open to hiring people with no experience, like young individuals just starting out. There was some paperwork to fill out and my questions were answered. The environment felt open and welcoming, and the staff were great.
- Can you tell me about your previous job history?
- What skills or value can you bring to this role?
Sales Supervisor
I had an interview with both the Store Manager and the Asst. Store Manager. After that, I interviewed with the Dept Manager, although that position has since been eliminated. It was a pretty easy process overall, with typical retail questions like 'Tell me about a time when...'.
- Can you share an instance of when you dealt with a challenging customer and what your approach was?
- Describe an experience where you motivated your sales team to meet a tough goal.
- Give an example of resolving a team conflict.
Sales Supervisor
The process was pretty quick, I had an in-person interview and then I waited for the second stage interview, after which I got a job offer. They asked really basic questions about managing people and customer service, also about my previous experience and what I expected from the job. They also reviewed scheduling.
- Tell me about how you'd deal with different situations that might arise.
- Describe your approach to managing a team.
- What are your expectations for this position?
