I applied via email a few weeks ago for a temp-to-hire role through Boly Welch, an employment agency. They were quick to respond and schedule an interview. Before I came in, they had me do some online testing for Microsoft Office skills. When I arrived, there was some paperwork and more tests, including editing, proofreading, and grammar. It was a straightforward process. I met with three recruiters: one for temporary work, one in HR, and one for administrative roles. They seemed to really understand my interests and paid close attention to my resume. The day after, I interviewed with the hiring company, and by the following Monday, I started my temp position with them.

I had to take several tests, each over an hour long. Then, when I got to my scheduled appointment, there were even MORE tests. This all happened before they would even tell me if there were any openings I would be a good fit for. It was also concerning that they asked for my SSN, passport, and ID upfront, especially when there might not even be a job available. This is private information, and I don't understand why they need it 'just in case' a position opens up. Additionally, if I'm told to be there at 10 am, I expect not to be kept waiting for 30 minutes. It felt very unprofessional; my time is just as valuable as theirs.

They had a typical interview process, but it was kind of frustrating. I figured an employment agency focused on contract and temp jobs would be cool with my resume showing a lot of short-term roles. But nope, they gave me flak about it, saying my resume looked bad because I had multiple temp-to-hire positions. I explained that not all were temp-to-hire, some were just temporary.
