User Researcher
So the interview process, as I get it, starts with a call from a recruiter, then you talk to the Hiring Manager, then there's an interview and a presentation with the team, and then a quick chat with the founders to see if you're a good fit. I made it to the Hiring Manager interview, but that's as far as I got. The interview for this job was all about your research process, examples of research you've done, and how you'd teach others user research. It was about 45 minutes, with about 30 minutes for the Hiring Manager and then 10-15 minutes for my questions.
- Can you explain how you approach scoping a project?
- What guidance would you offer to someone conducting user interviews for the first time?
- Could you walk me through your research process?
UX Writer
I went through 6 interviews, each lasting 45 min to an hour. It was strange because every interviewer asked me the exact same questions. It felt like no one had notes or did their homework, and honestly, most of them didn't seem qualified to interview me because they were unsure of what a UX Writer actually does. After all that, I got a generic email from a greenhouse address saying thanks for applying but they're moving on with stronger candidates. Crazy. I've decided now to never do more than three interviews for a job because it's really never worth the effort.
- What is your understanding of the UX writer role?
UX Designer
It was professional yet chilled out, had few talks - the regular HR, some technical with design team and PMs, then few more with stakeholders. It took quite some time tho.
- Can you describe your regular workflow process?
