I applied online and was contacted to set up a phone screen with a recruiter. The first interview was a phone screen with the Director FP&A (who was the hiring manager). Then, I had a second phone interview with the VP. After that, there was a virtual interview with the hiring manager. I'd advise others to confirm the salary range and position details before moving forward. The offer of $110k was significantly lower than the salary range that was discussed. While I'm giving Boingo the benefit of the doubt that the budget wasn't finalized during the initial screen, I wouldn't have proceeded with the first interview if I'd known the budget was so much lower than my range. Also, the hiring manager mentioned the role could be either a Manager or SFA position and suggested I'd have a direct report. There was a lot of conflicting information, and I wasn't sure what role I was actually being considered for. Frankly, I felt misled by our conversations. The hiring manager justified the low offer by saying she would invest time to train me in company systems, estimating about 6 months of hands-on training. I found this premise to be ridiculous and insulting, and it seems Boingo believes the cost of training should be deducted from the new hire's salary. SO MANY RED FLAGS! I declined the offer. Good luck, I'm sure it's a great position for the right person.

The interview process had three parts. First, I had a phone interview with a Technical Recruiter, Jamie Koblinski. Then, I had two in-person interviews with the Directors of the departments I would be working with: Phillip Chang (Director of Information Security) and Adrian Lomas (Director of Network Service Engineering). The first interview with the Technical Recruiter was mostly general questions like, “Tell me about yourself?” and “Why did you choose to apply to Boingo?”. The point of this interview was to get to know me and see how interested I was in working at Boingo Wireless, Inc. Before the second and third interviews, I had a quick 15 minute session with the Technical Recruiter to go over the second interview process and make sure I was ready for the technical interviews. The second and third interviews with the Director(s) were more technical. They asked me about things on my resume and tested my ability to explain technical stuff in a non-technical way.

I had a phone interview with HR first. Then, I had another phone interview with someone from Accounting. After that, I had an in-person interview with four top Accounting heads, with each interview lasting 30 minutes, making the total interview process three hours long. It felt like a very long interview for a position that wasn't that high up. A week later, I got an email from HR saying I was rejected. I have strong experience and wasn't accepted. This company seems very picky, and the position has been open for over 25 days. So, if you're thinking of applying to Boingo, maybe think twice unless you're okay with a long interview process just to get rejected.

They emailed me about a month later to schedule a phone interview. We set a time and confirmed it. The next day, I got an email saying they had a meeting and this role was in Chicago or NY. If I didn't want to relocate, they were canceling the phone interview. I've never had a phone interview just canceled like that. Boingo really messed up the whole process, and I hope no one else has to deal with their unprofessional HR/recruiting. Also, have you used Boingo's services? They really aren't good!
