First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Boehringer Ingelheim.
Lab Technician
We started with a phone interview, and then you had an onsite interview. They asked about your education and past job experiences, salary expectations, your biggest wins and losses, your relevant job experience for this role, and your knowledge of Boehringer Ingelheim's culture and products.
- What are your past job experiences and education?
- Tell me about your performance in previous roles.
Logistic Technician
I applied online and about a week later, I got a phone call for a phone interview with HR. The HR interview was about 30 minutes long and focused on situational questions like handling difficult customers, successful work implementations, dealing with stress, and arrogant colleagues. They also asked about my experience and what qualities I'd bring to the job. If approved, the next step was a test, which varied by position. For this role, there were 3 tests that seemed like IQ tests, taking about 3-4 hours. I thought I'd finish quickly but ran out of time. Passing the test earns a certificate. After the test, I received another call for an onsite interview. During the first interview, they discussed the job summary, company, and salary, mentioning possible negotiation. My initial offer seemed to be $12.50-$13.00 plus a small evening shift bonus. I mentioned my actual salary was under $10, which hurt my negotiation power, though I'm unsure if negotiation was truly possible. The onsite interview had two parts: HR and two supervisors. HR asked repetitive questions about leaving my employer, handling colleagues, future with the company, customer relations, how I found the job, and current salary. The supervisors focused on experience, qualities, and skills, using a list with questions similar to those asked by HR. This part lasted about 2 to 2.5 hours. I wasn't hired, possibly due to my interview performance. Even with a negative outcome, they send an email praising the candidate but explaining someone else was chosen. The process also includes background and reference checks, and likely a drug test.
- Can you tell me about your current salary?
- Tell me about yourself?
- Can you describe a situation and how you handled it?
Technician
It was a good experience, the process was quite fast and clear. The recruiters are real professionals. No tricky questions, it was a pretty standard interview in the end. I recommend this company to others. The interview took place in a relaxed and serene atmosphere.
