Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Boehringer Ingelheim.
Associate Director
I think the interview process was 3-4 rounds total. I got through the first two rounds, one with HR and one with the hiring manager. My review is about the HR recruiter, who was really unprofessional. I could tell you his name, but that would be inappropriate. After the two interviews, he just disappeared. This was a mid-senior level position and I was really qualified, which is why I had two interviews. After the second interview, I heard nothing back from BI HR. I sent a thank you note two days later, a follow-up email ten days after that, and left a voicemail another week later. For about a month, there was no response. I finally got ahold of the recruiter about four weeks after my second interview. His response was, 'We moved forward with our preferred candidate.' Which is fine. What's not fine is leaving a qualified candidate hanging for weeks after two interviews. I don't think I'll consider future jobs at BI after this. Totally unprofessional.
- Can you tell me about your background and how it fits this role? Also, do you have the required ten years of experience?
Associate Director
The whole hiring process took about 4 months. There were several rounds of interviews, some over the phone, some virtual, and some in person, with people from various levels within the company. It wasn't always super clear what the next steps would be, but everyone I spoke with was really nice, and HR was communicative even though the process lacked transparency.
- Can you share an example of how you've managed a workplace conflict?
Associate
Had one panel interview, could be onsite or on zoom depending on the pandemic. Asked some basic GMP questions and about how well you work with others. A lot of questions about how you solve a problem with a team or how you handle situations.
- Tell me about a time you handled a difficult situation.
