Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BNY.
Operations
The interview process generally went smoothly and was mostly behavioral. Questions focused on past experiences, handling challenges, and teamwork. I felt good explaining my thought process and giving real examples, making the conversation engaging. There were a couple of instances where I could have been more concise or structured, but I think I explained my experiences well and showed real interest in the job. Overall, it was a positive experience and a good chance to show my strengths and professional development.
- How do you handle prioritizing tasks when facing multiple deadlines?
- Can you share an experience where you managed a significant workload?
- Can you describe a time you went the extra mile?
Operations
So first there was an aptitude test that happened the day before for everyone who got shortlisted. Then the actual interview was a panel interview. It was with senior managers from the Operations division. Overall it was a good experience, and they asked a mix of behavioural and technical questions.
- Can you explain trade settlement and its specifics in India?
- Could you define corporate actions and provide some examples?
- What can you tell me about BNY Mellon's business?
Operations Executive
I got in through campus recruitment in my last semester of MBA and the interview went very well. The first round was an aptitude test which was quite decent, not too hard or easy, and once you clear that, it's smooth sailing from there on. Then there was a group discussion which consisted of around 15 people. They just took whoever was talking, irrespective of their flow of communication. Then finally, there was a financial round where they asked questions related to the company and how I would be of use to them and what I know about the company and how I can contribute myself to them.
- What is your understanding of our company?
- Can you tell me where prepaid expenses are reflected on the balance sheet?
- Could you explain the golden rules of accounting?
