After I submitted my resume, I was contacted by a BNSF HR recruiter who wanted to do a phone interview. We scheduled and completed it, and it lasted around 30 minutes. The recruiter was really nice. We went over my resume and the job description. I got asked the usual interview questions, and they were happy to answer my questions too. It seems like the Account Manager Level 1 job is mostly a telemarketing role, involving a lot of cold calling to arrange transport loads. It wasn't totally clear how much time would be spent actually managing existing accounts, as it seemed focused more on lots of short, transactional calls.

The interview process was very smooth initially, as the company is expanding into the SE USA and actively recruiting. However, the new manager for the Florida office lacked assertiveness. I received an offer, which was modest, but I accepted it given my situation. During the background check, HR found an arrest record without convictions and rescinded the offer. Following this, I was treated poorly. The HR representative was communicative, but the manager, who had the final decision, did not contact me to understand the situation fully, opting to hide behind his computer. He had previously spoken very positively to me, which suggests the company is desperate to hire and underpay experienced senior logistic agents, and also indicates a conservative mindset. Be aware.

The interview process for this role wasn't too long. It started with a recruiter phone screen where they asked general questions about my background. The recruiter knew a lot about the company and answered all my questions. She explained the rest of the process and mentioned she'd be recommending me for an in-person interview with the manager. About a week after that, the hiring manager reached out, and I had a face-to-face interview with them the following week. After that, I had another interview with the hiring manager and a couple of Transportation Coordinators.
