First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BNSF Logistics.
Account Manager
The interview process for this role wasn't too long. It started with a recruiter phone screen where they asked general questions about my background. The recruiter knew a lot about the company and answered all my questions. She explained the rest of the process and mentioned she'd be recommending me for an in-person interview with the manager. About a week after that, the hiring manager reached out, and I had a face-to-face interview with them the following week. After that, I had another interview with the hiring manager and a couple of Transportation Coordinators.
- Can you tell me about your sales background?
- Describe the most challenging sale you've ever closed.
- Share your most memorable sale.
Software Engineer
The hiring process went like this: first a phone interview, then a code pairing session, and finally a hiring manager interview. The whole thing took about 3-4 months. I got the code pairing round scheduled 2-3 weeks after the phone interview, which went well. After that, I got scheduled for the hiring manager round. That interview was good, and I answered most questions, though they did mention I was like a guinea pig for testing out the new hiring process. In the end, I didn't get an offer.
- Can you explain the differences between .Net and .Net core?
Business Development Manager
The process was pretty extensive, mainly because the recruiter and I had been in touch via LinkedIn messages and emails for a few years. I just wasn't ready to switch jobs back then. She stayed in touch patiently, without being pushy but still persistent – I thought I was the good salesman here! It was a thorough process with multiple interviews by phone, in person, and even a presentation. It took a while but was overall a good experience. I'm happy with my job now.
- How do you stay informed about your target market?
Sales Management Trainee
First you talk to the recruiter to get to know you, then you speak with the program director who also wants to get to know you. Then, if that goes well, you have a quick chat with the VP of the company to see why you want the job. If you make it past that, they invite you to their building for a full day of on-site interviews and assessments.
- Tell me about how you handle rejection.
- What steps do you take to distinguish yourself from others?
- Can you share some of your weaknesses?
