Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BNP Paribas.
Intern
The selection process was quite long, taking about 3 months. First, there was a quick telephone screening. Then, I had a 45-minute Teams interview with HR, who was really nice and helpful. Following that, there were two more technical interviews: one with two team members I might have worked with, and the final one with the managers. I heard back about the offer over a month after the last interview.
- Could you elaborate on the specific details of this role?
Intern
The interview process included an online assessment covering logic, numerical, and verbal reasoning. This was followed by two rounds of personal and technical interviews with directors and VPs. The outcome is either an offer or rejection. This is a 6-month internship position, and French language skills are preferred.
- Could you explain the J curve in Private Equity?
- Can you define what an LBO is?
- Describe a challenging situation you faced during a prior internship and detail how you handled it.
Intern
I had a video interview with the hiring manager, and the experience was surprisingly smooth and casual. The tone felt more like a genuine conversation than a high-pressure evaluation. The manager was personable, clear about the role expectations, and seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me rather than just testing me. There were a few standard questions about my background, experiences, and how I approach certain tasks, but nothing overly technical or competitive. It felt like they were more focused on culture fit and communication style than on trying to "stump" me or create a stressful environment.
- Can you introduce yourself and elaborate on challenges you've faced and how you overcame them?
