I found the job on LinkedIn and they reached out for some email questions. After I sent those, BlueModus set up a first interview and confirmed the time that morning. The first interview was mainly a get-to-know-you session with a few technical questions and time for me to ask about BlueModus. It lasted 40 minutes. I thought it went okay, but they decided not to move forward and let me know that afternoon. The interviewers were nice and polite, and I liked that they got back to me quickly. A lot of companies ghost you if they pass, which is kinda rude. BlueModus didn't do that, so good on them even though I didn't get the job.

The CEO, Tom, was the recruiting coordinator for this position. He reviewed resumes and scheduled interviews with Director-level team members. I was given several decks to prepare for the interview, most importantly, the Client feedback survey from 2022. I reviewed all the documentation and prepared insightful questions from it. When it was time to present my questions, the interviewers were surprised by my questions and access to that information. One interviewer said they didn't know what information Tom had shared with me, which explained their awkwardness. My preparation worked against me and I lost the opportunity. I spoke with Tom about this, explaining it was a process failure because he didn't communicate to his team what he shared with me, failing everyone. I don't know why the CEO was leading recruiting, but he did a poor job and had no explanation for this process failure.

After that, a 2:1 technical presentation with the Managing Director and a Senior Project Manager. Next, a 2:1 expectations discussion with the VP of Technology and the VP/Chief Strategy Officer. This was followed by a 3:1 team interview with a Senior UX/UI Developer, Senior QA Engineer, and Senior Solution Lead. It kicked off with phone screens, then BlueModus flew me to Denver for the final interviews. It was a nice gesture, covering my stay. Walking in, I faced an initial character test with the office dog. After that, I met with two big panels. One hour was with a technical panel, and another hour with a PM panel. Both focused on culture fit, surprisingly. They checked my technical skills based on my experience, but mostly wanted to see if I could collaborate without a big ego. The PM panel was surprisingly tougher. They rely on solution leads to flag issues with scope or timing. They needed to know I'd done this before and wouldn't hesitate to raise concerns or review work quality. Post-panels, I had informal chats with management. They wanted to answer my questions and convince me to join, which wasn't hard given the talent and culture I saw.
