I walked in and handed over my resume. Then, I had an introductory meeting with the manager of the location. It was a pretty straightforward process, and it felt like they were primarily assessing for cultural fit.

I found the job online and they messaged me to confirm a time and place to come in for an interview. Two women interviewed me in a small store office. I had to fill out a long paper application even though I brought my resume. They were running late because there were other people before me. The interview was very short, about 10 minutes. They mainly asked if I could apply makeup well and what my hourly rate expectation was. After that, they didn't ask much about my background. They ended the interview early and told me to come back when I have more makeup experience. They didn't even ask about most of the things on the paper application. It was okay, but I wish they had told me upfront that makeup experience was required or asked me about it on the phone first. Overall, it was easy but felt more like a tryout than an interview.

I walked in, and the district manager was there so I gave her my resume. She briefly asked me about my past experience and reviewed my resume. Then she gave me an application to fill out and said she'd call me. A couple days later, she called and asked me to come to a different store that had an opening for a floor test. Basically, they have you work on the floor with customers, trying to sell, and also practice applying makeup on a client or a coworker. The district manager was there and hired me right away.
