The interview process was pretty standard for Blue Origin. It started with a 30-minute phone screen, followed by a 1-hour technical presentation and then back-to-back 30-minute sessions with four different engineers. I really enjoyed talking to the passionate engineers and felt like I learned a lot. My technical presentation went well, and I seemed to be more proficient in MBSE than the interviewers, so there weren't many technical follow-up questions. They asked some curious questions about my presentation and my past MBSE experiences. Although I didn't get an offer for the requirements engineer role because they felt I wouldn't be a good fit, they did offer to consider me for an MBSE-focused position, which I declined due to the frustratingly slow and tedious HR process. Overall, it was a good experience, but I won't interview again until they improve their HR.

The interview process was a refreshing change from roles that limit engineers. It requires both design and analysis. It started with a recruiter phone screening, then an on-site. The first on-site involved a chat with the hiring manager, asking about work history and discipline-specific and technical questions. After moving forward, I had a full interview loop. This loop included a presentation on my work history to the interviewers, followed by Q&A. Then, I met with each person individually to discuss technical knowledge. The questions asked tested my knowledge and problem-solving approach, covering topics like free body diagrams, beam loading, schematics, and material properties. I'd say it was difficult compared to other engineering interviews, mostly due to remembering basic equations and material properties.

Honestly, if you want to get ahead for this role, just go buy a ton of blue kool aid and drink it right before your interview. It shows dominance and dedication. HR is a mess, communication was bad all the way through, and I even got the wrong interview time. They care more about your "passion for the mission" than your actual skills. Take what HR says with a grain of salt. I prepared a technical presentation as asked, but they cut me off because it was too technical. The 1v1s were also rough – one interviewer was eating on Zoom, and another was just negative and aggressive. I wasn't sure I'd even take the job if they offered. You guys are a space company, but maybe focus on Earth recruiting for now. Also, the writing part is weird for an engineer. Just ask about space interests. And seriously, fix HR.
