First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Blue Nile.
Performance Manager
First, I had a screening call with the Internal Recruiter over the phone. Then, I was asked to complete an annual strategy task, which I had to present to the CMO. After I spent a lot of time and effort creating their marketing strategy for the next year, I was told the role wasn't being funded anymore. Pretty sneaky.
- Could you devise a strategy to improve my performance?
Software Engineer
It started with an online test that included coding, Q&A, and verbal ability sections. Then there was a technical interview covering DSA, SQL, DBMS, OS, OOPS, and computer networks. Finally, an HR interview asked about my passion and some conditional questions. It was a good interview.
- What are the basic questions about Data Structures and Algorithms?
- Can you tell me about SQL?
- Do you know about Database Management Systems?
Analyst
This will likely be the first question to screen out applicants who just apply to any job. To filter out people who 'bulk apply' to any company hoping to get an interview. So, don't give generic or obvious answers. If you can mention two or three unique things about the company and why you like it, you'll pass this stage. Praise something the company did that's cool or something about someone at the company. Use sites like LinkedIn to research the company and its values.
- What is your motivation for applying to this specific company?
- Could you share some information about yourself?
- What makes you a suitable candidate for this position?
Marketing Director
I found the job posting online and applied with my resume. Soon after, I was contacted for an interview. The first interview was with the HR representative. He was very friendly and took the time to explain his own career journey and provide a detailed overview of the company, its structure, and the specifics of the role to ensure I had a clear understanding. We connected well. Midway through the call, I experienced some IT difficulties but remained composed. After reconnecting, he complimented my professional handling of the technical issue.
- In what ways do you envision contributing to our company?
