Excited for the onsite at Blue Matter's Zürich office after two good online interviews. But, the onsite was unstructured and disappointing. No chance to introduce myself before a written case study. Expectations were unclear, material poorly explained, and time pressure was intense without context. After the case, I waited alone for ~15 mins. Next interviewers arrived visibly frustrated, unaware I was ready—again, no communication. The behavioral interview was positive, interviewers kind and professional. But immediately after, they said the rest of the day was cancelled, decision already made from the first case. Communicated abruptly and without sensitivity, felt dismissed despite my effort. Understand rigorous evaluation, but the process lacked transparency and empathy. Clearer communication and a more structured experience would be great.

So, first things first, they shortlisted my resume. After that, I had an aptitude test. Then came a written case study round, which was about the company's sector and its products. The interview was based on that written case study. Lastly, there was an HR round.

I applied to the Zurich office and unfortunately didn't get an offer. When I arrived, the doorbell wasn't answered for several minutes, even though it was 15 minutes before my interview. A resident had to let me in. Upon introducing myself, instead of a greeting, I was asked how I got in, and they seemed surprised I was there. The first part involved listening to an 8-minute voice recording and filling in presentation blanks with Isabel. When I asked how many times I could listen, I was given a rude response about client repetition. After I finished, the recruiter took the recording and left, which was odd because a friend had a different experience. After 40 minutes, I presented slides and an email to the client in front of five consultants. Then, I had personal questions with two other consultants. They mentioned working on vaccines, not rare diseases as their website suggested, making my research partly useless due to their outdated website. Finally, I did a drug market-sizing case with two consultants, who claimed not to have patient or competitor data when I asked for it multiple times, only providing it at the end when I ran out of ideas. I was rejected after these three parts. I heard the remaining parts involve a roleplay, a passion talk, and another business case. I was offered feedback that I performed terribly in the cases and lacked motivation. They walked me to the door and wished me a nice day. My overall impression was that the people were reserved and the process disorganized, with consultants rather than professional recruiters handling it. They expected a lot but didn't deliver quality. My opinion isn't biased by the rejection; I'm happy not to be employed there.
