Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
Manager
It was a two round interview process. The atmosphere was casual and the tone was conversational. The questions were direct and specific to the role, not from a standard rubric. The decision was communicated via email and a personal call.
- What strategies would you employ to motivate a direct report who is not meeting expectations?
Case Manager
I first spoke with a recruiter, who then sent my resume to a manager leading a team. That manager then scheduled a panel interview with at least two people from the team. They asked standard interview questions, specifically asking about my clinical experience and skills. They also explained the job role and duties, and the training involved. I also asked them questions about their expectations and goals, which they seemed to really appreciate.
- Can you share an example of a stressful situation you've encountered and explain how you managed it?
- Could you discuss your relevant clinical experience and skills?
- What are your expectations and goals regarding this position?
Senior Manager
I got a call and the interview was about my experience and knowledge of being regulated concerning information that can be relayed or given out to consumers. The interviewer was good, no tricky questions, just asked about my work experience. The work environment was very good, plenty of training to assist the consumer in every way. There was assistance all the time if you needed it.
- Tell me about your experience dealing with consumers.
- Tell me about your experience dealing with difficult people on the phone.
