I was given a choice between a Skype or face-to-face interview for an IT position, identified by a job code not found on the portal. It turned out to be an IT intern role, though initially it seemed like an Actuarial Intern. I opted for the face-to-face interview at their Detroit campus. I was supposed to meet an IT team member, but the contact person wasn't even on the campus's welcome desk list. After a 10-minute wait, the Head of the IT team introduced herself as my interviewer. It was disappointing that she hadn't reviewed my resume and read it word-for-word during the interview. The interview was mostly behavioral, and I was told the intern's duties would involve preparing PPTs and other office assistant tasks. I was expecting to hear back from the Talent Team within a week or so. When I followed up after 20 days, my rejection was communicated within an hour.

The hiring process was very straightforward. I applied online and then had phone interviews for two different roles. Each screening interview covered my background, including very specific questions about my resume, my goals, and my fit for the role. No behavioral questions were asked. They really focused on how I fit the position and how my past education and work experiences could be applied. I felt like BCBSM was really trying to find a good fit. They also focused on making sure the projects aligned with my interests. If they decide to hire you, things move fast and you'll feel pressure to accept quickly.
