Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
Actuarial Intern
First, I filled out an application online. Then, I received an email to schedule an interview. They offered two time slots, and I picked one. The interview itself was with the hiring team, consisting of two actuaries. It was conducted via Teams and lasted for 30 minutes.
- What makes you stand out from other candidates?
- What are your reasons for applying?
- Can you discuss a recent project you've worked on?
Actuarial Analyst
I talked to 2 managers from different actuarial teams, and also the coordinator. It was a good process, and I got to ask them questions to understand the company better.
- Questions about technical and analytical skills were asked.
Actuarial
Got a call on Friday for a phone screen. Then, I had an on-campus interview on Monday. About 2-3 weeks later, I got an offer. The recruiter gave me a bit more time to decide because I was waiting on another offer. The interview itself was two separate half-hour sessions, each with two actuaries. They asked all standard behavioral questions.
- Which class did you like the most?
- What's your go-to Excel function?
- What makes you want to become an actuary?
