Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona.
IT Analyst
I spoke with the recruiter first, and they were really nice and helpful. The recruiter then set up a 1:1 with the hiring manager, which seemed to go well. After that, I had a group interview with the team. It looked like it went okay, but they hired someone else. The recruiter contacted me again about a similar job in a different department. They scheduled me for an interview with that team, and it went great. I got an offer and accepted.
- Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
- What makes you want to apply for this role?
- What skills and experience do you bring to the table for this job?
Systems Analyst
I got in through a contract company (Signature). Had an interview with the supervisor and a manager, then got a callback for a second interview with the senior manager and director. They usually do one panel interview and then a follow-up with senior management.
- Can you provide a general select statement for a database query?
Systems Analyst
I applied online and got a call from HR for a phone screen. After that, I had a phone screen with the department manager. Then, about 10 days later, I had an in-person interview with my future manager. Two weeks after that, I had a panel interview with four people from different departments, including someone who would be my peer. They asked a mix of technical and personality questions, and the manager was there to observe. Another two weeks passed, and I interviewed with the CIO. A week after that, I got a formal offer, but for a lower grade than the role was initially posted for. Apparently, other people hired around the same time also experienced this title change at the offer stage.
- What are your personal visions and aspirations?
- How do your personal visions and aspirations align with this role?
- Can you share your technical background and experience?
