First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Blue Corona.
Content Marketing Specialist
Applied in early July 2018. About a month later, got a call from Blue Corona for a phone interview. A week after that, went in for an in-person interview, meeting 6 employees in groups of 2. Initially felt overwhelming but confirmed I wanted the job, as everyone was passionate and I aligned with their values. Did some quick editing tests during the interview. A few days post-interview, references were requested. About a week after references, had a phone interview with the CEO. Despite initial intimidation, the CEO was approachable, and we had a good chat. Right after, received written questions about why I thought it was a good fit. About a week later, got an offer and accepted.
- Which of Blue Corona's values do you connect with the most?
- Tell me why you think this role is a good fit for you.
Content Marketing Specialist
The process was quite long, but I appreciate that they take the time to get to know candidates well. However, through this informative process I realized this wasn't the right position or company for me. There were several interviews, including an in-person one that lasted nearly two hours with six different people. Following that, I was given a couple of worksheets to complete. The people were great and had good attitudes, it's just not the right fit for everyone.
- What company values are important to you?
Content Marketing Specialist
So I started with a 30-minute phone call with the SEO Team Lead, who I'd be working with, to chat about the company and myself. Then I got a writing prompt to do. About two weeks later, I had another 30-minute phone call, this time with an Account Manager, focusing on teamwork and communication. A week and a half after that, I went in person to Charlotte for an interview with six people: the General Manager, Account Director, two Account Managers, a Content Marketing Specialist, the Director of Strategy & Analytics, and the SEO Team Lead again. Each chat was about 15-20 minutes. I also did a proofreading test. The next week, I had a phone call with the General Manager from the Maryland office, talking generally about the company and me. Then they said they'd check my references. After that, I got an email to schedule a call with the CEO. We talked for about an hour and a half about my background, the company's details, and what's expected in the job. He really stressed understanding the role since they want long-term people. He said he'd send one more writing prompt, and then I'd hear from the SEO Team Lead or GM about next steps. Five days later, I got an offer, which was fair and personalized with expectations and legal stuff. Basically, it's a long process to make sure you're a good fit and culture match.
- Could you tell me more about yourself and your background?
- What are your thoughts on your current skill level and interest in SEO?
- How do you typically operate within a team environment?
