The whole thing took about 2.5 weeks. First, there was a Skype screening with an outside hiring company. If they passed that, Bloomspot set up a face-to-face meeting with 4 people: a recruiter, 2 managers, and the VP of Sales. They asked behavioral questions using the STAR method.

Behavioral Case

The company environment seems exciting with unique technology, and it's a vibrant place with growth potential. However, Bloomspot's chaotic pace impacts their hiring process. I had several in-person interviews where the reality didn't match the explanation. I was supposed to meet multiple interviewers, but they often didn't show up. My visits seemed hastily arranged, and interviewers hadn't reviewed my resume. The questions asked were irrelevant to sales, my background, or the role. Interviews were short, leaving little time for my questions. I hope Bloomspot improves its process, as others have had similar issues. While the founders are smart, the sales team needs leadership.

Behavioral Presentation

I'm still in the middle of this process and will share more later. The first step was handled by Readyforce, a company Bloomspot uses. I applied through Readyforce and answered questions to see if I was a good fit. It wasn't always clear what they were looking for, but it was mostly easy to figure out, like rating how much I like change. My resume and answers must have been good enough. Then, I had a video interview with someone from Readyforce. Near the end, they asked me to pretend I was talking to the founder and to 'sell myself.' It was a really basic interview, just asking standard questions like if I had reliable transportation and why I wanted to work for Bloomspot. The oddest part was when the interviewer pointed to a past job I had, one that wasn't very sales-related and not much like Bloomspot, and asked if my work there seemed most relevant. It made me think the Readyforce interviewers weren't very serious and were just improvising. The whole thing took about 10-15 minutes.

Behavioral Technical

I applied through Readyforce and then had a webcam interview. The Recruiter at Bloomspot, a really nice lady, then invited me to interview with the two Sales Hiring Managers. When I got there, the office was really cool, and the CEO was walking around. The Recruiter took me to the first Hiring Sales Manager. She asked why I wanted this position. I said I loved the concept of Bloomspot, thought it would be a great place to work, and I enjoy working with people. She gave me a weird look and said this role is all phone calls and emails. I tried to explain that I meant I like interaction and have good communication skills, which are beneficial for sales. The whole vibe of the interview went downhill. She seemed like she didn't think I was worth her time and acted like I misunderstood the job description. After about 10 more minutes, she excused herself to get the other Hiring Manager. After a long 20 minutes, she came back and said the other Hiring Manager was too busy to meet me. She then folded my resume in front of me and practically shooed me out the back exit, slamming the door. It was so unprofessional, and I'm still upset about it. It's fine though, I wouldn't want to work for a company with such rude people, and it's a contract-to-hire role where they hire and fire a lot.
