So it was a group interview with 6 candidates, not all applying for the same role, and an HR person was running it. After some group questions, they called us into her office one by one for more questions. I thought the 1-1 would be my chance to impress and ask about the job, but they just asked one quick question about my last job and then kicked me out. It really felt like just an initial screening, and apparently, you need to really stand out in the group part. I even had a referral from Macy's corporate, but it didn't seem to matter.

Only went to the preliminary interview today, and am hoping to be called back for round-2 next week! I was a little nervous yesterday as I prepared for my interview today, but went to visit the store and take photos of the displays I'd be hired to maintain & create. While I was there yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised to run into 2 of the ladies on the VM team putting together a display. I got a chance to chat with them as they worked. After choosing a creative-professional outfit for the interview, I came to the store and was warmly greeted by those within the store. The manager who interviewed me was very personable and we seemed to click and share some similar values. She spoke of how she enjoyed the support and benefits Bloomie's offers its employees and how since she's been there she's be able to visit the NYC store and others! This job sounds quite wonderful and I hope to be called back to continue the process.
