Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bloomberg Industry Group.
Analyst
The interviews were pleasant. Communication was average. The first round was with HR, which was easy and friendly. They did basic introductions and asked for availability. The second round was with the Hiring Manager; the experience was pleasant, and the first half of the interview focused on your experiences, while the second half was dedicated to your questions, which I'd say is more important than the first half. I didn't hear back for about 2 months until I checked workday, which showed a rejection, but I'd say ghosting is just common nowadays.
- What makes you interested in Bloomberg and what do you know about the company and this role?
- Can you tell me about your experience with writing and research?
- What experiences do you have that you can bring to BNG?
Analyst
I talked to a recruiter, then had a call with the manager. After that, there was a written test that took about 3 hours. The last interview was a panel with three people. The final interview was the only one in person, but they did offer me the option to do it remotely.
- What makes you want to work in this position?
Analyst
So there seemed to be a disconnect between recruiting and the hiring manager, as I interviewed in person with the hiring manager before even speaking to a recruiter on the phone. This lack of communication carried over to HR, as after a second round of interviews and an assessment, I was left with silence, despite sending multiple emails and making calls to HR that went unanswered. I ended up accepting another job offer while I was waiting to hear back.
- Could you explain how you would apply your previous work experience to this role at Bloomberg?
