Compliance Manager
The recruiter was great, really proactive and gave me a good heads-up about what was coming. The panel interviews felt like speed dating, with individual sessions happening back-to-back. It was actually a nice change from the usual round-table setup.

I applied for a compliance role at ClearPay, a company I was really interested in because of their reputation and my past connection with a sister company. Sadly, the interview process was really strange and I felt I didn't get a fair shot. First, I had an initial interview scheduled with HR, but nobody showed up. I tried to follow up, but my email bounced. Then, I saw the HR person's LinkedIn profile was gone. I reached out directly to the company but heard nothing back. No one explained or apologized for the missed interview, which was weird and unprofessional. A few weeks later, while I was on vacation, a different HR person contacted me. Without checking my availability, I got a calendar invite for 10:30 AM Ireland time, which was 5:30 AM my local time. I still showed up to give it a chance. The second interview felt like they were trying to make up for the first one, but it was confusing. The HR person seemed uninterested from the start and kept interrupting me. It made me wonder if being a person of color played a role, or if they were just having a bad day. Either way, I felt dismissed and not really heard. It seemed like they were just looking for keywords instead of having a real conversation about my experience. When I asked questions, the HR person admitted she didn't know much about compliance. It felt like a checkbox exercise, not a real interview. I got a standard rejection email later. I get that not everyone can move on, but after preparing and showing up, especially after the confusing start, a more engaged and respectful experience would have been nice. Even a brief explanation or a more thoughtful follow-up would have helped. The whole process didn't really showcase the company's hiring well. I hope they consider this feedback to improve how they communicate with and treat candidates.

Compliance Analyst
Started with a video call with the recruitment team in San Francisco. Then had a video call with 2 managers from the Melbourne office, done separately but back-to-back. The final stage was an in-person interview in the Melbourne office, with 4 half-hour interviews with different team members. They asked questions typical for an interview, though some felt above the analyst level, inquiring about my team leader experience and feelings about it. They finished with a skills test demonstrating their systems and asking what I'd flag as suspicious. The process itself was smooth and the people were friendly, making it seem like a good place to work. The issue arose after the interview when it felt like I was ignored once they decided against me. I was told to contact recruitment for next steps, but the recruiter went on holiday and her contacts didn't reply. I had to follow up multiple times after she returned to get a response, which took a month. I wasn't given any updates or timelines. I was eventually told someone more qualified got the role. I asked the recruiter for feedback on my interview performance to help me improve, but received no response, so no learning opportunity. I also wanted to know about future job openings since they're hiring for other roles, but now I'm unsure whether to reapply or if they're just not interested in hiring me. I'm not trying to sound bitter about not getting the job, but I invested significant time and effort into their process and would have appreciated more communication, like providing timelines, replying to emails, and offering feedback.
