I had an initial interview. I set up my screening call (video or phone) using an interactive calendar and got reminders before it. When I spoke with the recruiter, she was really open to my concerns, and it felt like a pretty low-pressure chat.

It was a really long process. I talked to three different managers about the job, and one of them doesn't even work there anymore. What the managers told me during the interviews wasn't true once I was hired. They said there were opportunities for advancement, but that's only if you're a favorite or have been there a while. People who have been with the company for years get passed over for supervisor roles or other positions without much explanation. In the interviews, they talked a lot about unlimited vacation, salary increases, and mentorship. But there's no unlimited vacation for customer service. Salary increases are just $1 every six months, which is barely anything in NYC. They also didn't mention that you'd be the only non-exempt employee and wouldn't get holidays off unless specifically chosen. Holidays are usually working days for a select few, since we're open all year. This is one of the few chances for us customer service agents to make a bit of extra money, and we don't make much to begin with. The pay isn't enough to live on.

It was a really quick interview process. I had the recruiter screen one day and then the team lead interviews the very next day. I actually got the offer on the same day! The people who interviewed me were super informative about the role and really friendly.
