First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BlackArch Partners.
Investment Banking Analyst
It was a quick and straightforward process. The first round involved some technical questions about negative EBITDA and valuation methods. The second round was entirely behavioral, with a VP asking a lot of fit-based questions about culture and my interest in NC/Blackarch. We even talked about fantasy football. The culture seems relaxed but with a strong work ethic.
- What are the implications if a company has negative EBITDA?
- Could you explain the different valuation methodologies?
- Tell me about a time you faced a challenge and how you overcame it.
Intern
I made it to round 2, which was a Zoom call with an analyst. The first round had a mix of technical and behavioral questions, while the second round was mainly behavioral.
- What makes you want to work in Investment Banking?
Investment Banking Analyst
The whole thing took about a month, and there were 3 main stages. First, there was a phone screen that didn't really go deep into technical stuff. Then, I had an in-person interview on campus. The night before, there was a meet and greet, and then on the interview day, a 30-minute group interview. Finally, the last round was a 'superday' at the actual office. Again, we had a meet and greet the night before, and then the next day was packed with 12 separate interviews.
- Can you explain a leveraged buyout (LBO)?
- What does working capital refer to?
Analyst
It was a quick and easy phone call that lasted about 30 minutes. They asked some basic technical questions. There was a lot of conversation before the technical part, and the analyst really seemed to like working there and spoke highly of the work culture. It was my most enjoyable interview by far.
- Can you list the four types of valuations?
