Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bjarke Ingels Group NYC.
Junior Designer
So first I did a quick intro of myself. Then I walked them through two projects from my portfolio. After that, I got to ask them a few questions about the role and the company.
- The interviewer asked about my project, for example, the reason why I chose to develop it in this specific way.
Junior Designer
The video-interview was pretty chill with two Project Leaders from the NYC office. We barely did any small talk. They jumped right into asking about my background, then I did a short presentation showing 2 of my own projects and 2 professional ones, where I had to specify my role. They're really focused on the concept and how the form was developed.
- Can you present two of your personal projects and two professional projects?
- What is your motivation for applying to BIG?
- Tell us about yourself.
Designer
I applied via BIG's online recruit platform and a week later they invited me for an interview. The interview, which lasted about 30 minutes, was with an architect and a staffing member. Three days after the interview, I was rejected without a specific reason given.
- Can you tell me about your portfolio?
- What are your availability dates?
- What motivates you to join BIG?
