The process had three stages. First, an HR interview, which was quite long but a good conversation about my career journey, how I approach difficulties, my communication style, and my methods for giving and receiving feedback. Then, a technical interview that lasted two hours with the team, including a one-hour coding challenge that was practical rather than purely theoretical. The latter part of this interview focused on system design. Finally, a hiring manager interview mainly assessing culture fit.

The interview process was a disaster from start to finish. I had to chase the recruiter a lot between interview rounds for any updates, and at one point, I didn't hear back for over a week. The culture interview was standard for similar companies, with a good conversation where I got my questions answered. The tech interviews were weird, feeling like a university exam. I was asked many definitions without much depth, which are easy to memorize, and no questions about my strengths, weaknesses, or experience. The tech part wasn't difficult, except for a 20-minute Hackerrank task that depends on luck. I don't think it measured anything meaningful beyond memorized definitions. After the final tech round, I was told I wasn't suitable for the role and level, but they offered a different position. This role was so different from what I applied for that I declined it.

So first there was like an initial screening call, and then I had to do a take-home assignment. After that, I did a technical interview and then a management interview where we talked more about like behavioral stuff, social skills, and teamwork. They said they'd let me know about an offer, but then I waited a long time and got ghosted. Eventually, they got back to me for a final meeting, but it turned out the role was already filled.
