Behavioral Technical Coding Presentation

I started with a recruiter call, which helped speed things up. Then I had a phone interview where they asked about my interest in the company, plugins I use, past projects, and CMS experience. I shared my concerns about my JavaScript skills due to my art background and focus on CSS. The recruiter suggested a practical test focusing on CSS coding from a PSD, which I completed during my vacation. After that, I was invited for an onsite interview, which consisted of two rounds. The first was with the bosses, discussing my motivations, work ethic, and my current job situation, which they seemed to focus on a bit too much. They also talked about their company goals. I asked about employee tenure and reasons for departure, trying to understand potential growth. The second round was with coworkers who asked more technical questions and had me code on a whiteboard. This round seemed to be about problem-solving and their ambition, though I noted some past employees left due to unmet goals.

Technical Coding Behavioral

I had an initial phone chat with some developers where we discussed my background and some technical stuff related to that. Then there was a coding challenge, where I wasn't sure if I should use online resources, but I figured it was better not to. Following that, I had multiple interviews at their office where they wanted to see how I'd fit in. These were group sessions that included questions about my behavior, past work, and some whiteboard problems. The team was super professional and made an effort to keep me comfortable.

The interview experience wasn't the best. It started with a phone interview where all 5 interviewers were on the call at once. I felt I was over-qualified, but due to phone issues with call cutting out, my performance suffered. The stress of preparing for every answer, combined with the phone problems and my hearing disorder making it hard to hear, was really difficult and embarrassing. I wished for an in-person interview to better show my passion and experience. They didn't really test my skills but asked about things on my cover letter that I didn't mention, suggesting they didn't review my application properly. I was surprised and saddened because I was qualified but never tested on those skills. They treated me like I knew nothing. After weeks of trying to follow up, I got an email saying my technical skills and experience didn't match the role's requirements. I feel they missed out on a good candidate by not asking more in-depth questions about game mechanics or other relevant areas. The questions were too simplified, making me question what to even answer. An in-person interview or having one before the phone call would have allowed me to demonstrate my value to the team.

Technical Presentation

After I applied online, they reached out and I had to do an art test. Once they approved of my art test, I had a phone interview. Then, they flew me out for an in-person interview at the studio. It was an all-day event with three separate interviews, tours, and lunch with the art team. I got an offer a few days later.
