I had a first quick chat (30 min) with the hiring manager. It was a casual interview focused on my motivation, goals, and why I was interested in Biontech. She then immediately set up a second interview for the following week. The second interview was more technical; I had to prepare a 15-minute presentation of my research. I was expecting to hear back within two weeks, but it took six weeks. Ultimately, I was informed that someone else got the position and was then referred to a different opening.

It was a great experience. Everyone I met, from the hiring manager to HR to the President of R&D, was friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the science, the company, and each other. The process included a phone screen with the recruiter, a phone screen with the hiring manager, an initial panel interview via video, and a final panel interview via video. They clearly adapted the recruitment process due to COVID-19 restrictions.

So the first step is a 30-minute chat with two people from the team, mostly just to go over your resume. After that, if that goes well, the next round is a one-hour meeting with the whole team where you'll need to give a 15-minute presentation about your past work.
