I was contacted by an internal recruiter for a role that felt like a stretch, though I was technically qualified and would have needed significant training. The recruiter was pleasant, but the hiring manager asked technical questions I couldn't answer, making me suspect I was an external candidate they had to interview before promoting someone internally. It felt like a waste of time beyond networking with HR. Be cautious if a Biogen recruiter contacts you, especially in the current job market.

Got in touch with a headhunter who connected me to the hiring manager. We had a few issues connecting initially, but we eventually had a 45-minute phone call. Around 30 minutes were spent on him asking about my background, and then I had about 15 minutes for my questions. After that, I had a phone interview with someone from HR. Finally, I went through a full day of in-person interviews with six people from different departments and the team I would be joining. It was a pretty standard process, mostly questions about my experience and my interest in BioGen.

Behavioral

This recruiter was quite bad. The first call was short, only 20 minutes, and consisted of irrelevant questions that were already on my resume. There was no real discussion about my experience or any behavioral questions. It seemed the recruiter hadn't read my resume or prepared for the interview. They were primarily focused on my salary history, which felt intrusive, especially since they stated company policy prevented them from sharing salary ranges. When I provided my desired salary, they dismissed it as too high for my experience level, which I found disingenuous given the local market rates. When asked about the timeline for the next stage (technical interview), the response was unhelpful. The recruiter called back twice more: once for 10 minutes to 'discuss my experience' but again focused on salary, and a second time for 2 minutes to ask about managerial experience, which was clearly stated on my CV. I suspect this was just salary benchmarking. This experience made me not want to join the company.
