Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Biogen.
Senior Associate
The interviews were quick, one after another, but they take a month to give you an answer. They ignore all your follow-ups, even when they say 'we'll confirm this week.' I know at least two people who went through the same thing.
- Tell me about yourself and your past experiences at previous jobs.
Associate
The interview and hiring process was really quick and pretty clear. There was one online round and then an in-person one with three senior interviewers. They mostly asked about my past experiences, but especially wanted to see my mindset and if I'd fit into the company and team culture.
- What do you believe are the key requirements for success in this role?
Associate Director
Got an email about a job I applied for a month ago, asking if I could come in for an in-person interview two days later. There was no prior phone screen. The candidate care team set it up. I went in for two 45-minute interviews, one with the hiring manager and another with a Director. About half the time was spent discussing my experience, strengths/weaknesses, why Biogen, why this position, and behavioral questions ('tell me about a time when...'). The other half was for my questions. I was told they wanted to hire quickly and never got any indication there would be more interviews or what the process would be. HR was unresponsive, then emailed asking for my availability for more interviews. I provided 4-5 half-day slots and didn't hear back for a week, except that they were targeting one of the dates. The day before, I still hadn't received confirmation despite trying to follow up. Finally, they confirmed, with less than 24 hours' notice, but the schedule was for the wrong date when I wasn't even available. Once I actually got back in for interviews, it was with a group of people who seemed unsure about the position and people I wouldn't actually be working with. They all mentioned they had no say in hiring and mostly couldn't answer questions about the position. I followed up with thank yous to all interviewers and HR. I repeatedly asked HR about timing and next steps because I was also waiting to hear back about another position, but never got a response. They eventually initiated a background check and made an offer.
- Can you tell me about your background and experience?
- What motivates your interest in Biogen?
- What draws you to this particular role?
