Data Scientist
Had a phone interview with technical staff to discuss background and experience, then a coding interview. Was given 72 hours to complete 2 problems/tasks. The job was submitted in mid-Oct 2020, and by Jan 27th 2021 (3 months later), the coding review still wasn't done. The headhunter mentioned they sent out tons of coding tasks to many people and were still sending them out. It felt like they weren't serious about hiring, with no updates even after multiple follow-ups. I wouldn't recommend taking the coding task. If your time is valuable, save it for other companies.
- Can you describe your working experience with machine learning, specifically with time-series or cross-sectional analyses?

The recruiter was pretty pushy, asking a lot of questions and really drilling down into my role, duties, and especially my current salary. They wouldn't proceed without that info. Then there was a take-home assignment. They sent over some pretty large, unlabelled imaging data and the task was to build a model to predict something from these pictures. No other help was given, I had to use my own computer. It took me a whole day to train my ML model on the images, and then the whole weekend to finish the project. After I sent it back, they totally ghosted me – no replies to emails or calls, no feedback at all. It felt super shady, almost like they were trying to get free work out of applicants.
- Complete an image classification take-home assignment on unlabelled data using computer vision.
- Classify several gigabytes of unlabelled images using your own machine for a computer vision project.

The interview process involved three rounds over approximately three weeks. It started with a technical interview via an offline test. Following that, a manager interview focused on reviewing the test results and asking about your past experience. The final stage was an HR interview to discuss your motivations for joining the company.
- What motivates your interest in joining a startup environment?
- Could you summarize a research paper, detailing its core question and conclusions, and offer a critical analysis?
- For the offline test, please provide a practical solution for an ECG-related machine learning challenge.
