My interview process started with a phone screen with the department Director. Then, I had virtual interviews over Zoom. In this second round, I spoke with two Scientists (levels II/III), two Managers, and the Director again. Each of these interviews were 30 minutes long.

Applied and filled out a detailed questionnaire which was the same as the first interview. They wouldn't tell me the pay range, even when asked, and instead asked me what I expected. I had an interview with the CEO/Director, which went well. Then, I was scheduled for a 3-hour interview with various team members. This also went well, and I got an idea of who I'd be working with. After that, complete silence. I get that maybe I wasn't the right fit or they found someone better. I reached out to HR after a week, but they didn't respond, which was rude given the multiple interviews and the 3-hour one, and no rejection email.

  • Tell me about the top 10 questions you think are good to ask in an interview.
  • In the group interview, I was repeatedly asked about very specific lab skills. It felt depersonalizing and they didn't seem interested in my general abilities or personality, just if I could perform basic lab tasks like a robot.
  • Can you elaborate on your specific lab skills?

Behavioral Technical Other

Had an initial phone screening and then an in-person interview, met 10 people total during the day. Lots of good chats about my background work, was surprised I didn't get an offer. No weird silences or unexpected questions. The last chat with HR about salary, both current and desired, was likely the issue; they wouldn't match my pay based on Glassdoor salaries. Wish they'd been more upfront about pay.
