It was a two-round process, and no online assessment was given. I didn't make it to the second round. The first round involved a LeetCode easy-medium question and a resume deep dive with standard questions. However, a key requirement was to conduct the interview in Chinese. The language barrier was the toughest part of this interview. It seems they have high expectations for both language proficiency and prior experience. I heard that the process can vary depending on the team.

So, the interview was three technical rounds. First was a technical interview with the direct report, where I had to solve a coding problem like on LeetCode and explain how I'd do it. They also asked about my Java backend work. Second was an architect interview, focusing on system design, scaling, and how to handle lots of users at once. We went over the pros and cons of different approaches and what's best for big systems. Third was with the Head of Engineering, which was more about my previous work, my leadership skills, and if I'd fit in culturally. After that, HR called to check my salary ideas. Then they told me I didn't get the job. It was a pretty professional and organized process overall. The first part really tested coding, and the next two were about system design and leadership.

My design was okay, but I did mention some parts I wasn't sure about. I often find these interviews challenging because in my actual work, I don't have 45 minutes to design a KYC system.
