Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Big Y Foods.
Baker
It was a job-fair day, so I interviewed with other people at the same time. They asked me questions about my past experiences that could help me with the job at the store.
- Can you tell me about your relevant past experiences for this role?
Cashier
It was a pretty easy interview. For dress code, they recommended business formal attire. This included black shoes, black pants or khakis, and a black or white shirt. They asked basic questions and some scenario-based questions. A key point was emphasizing customer service and remembering that the customer is always right.
- How would you define excellent customer service?
Cashier
Applied online but no callback, so I went in person. They moved me up the list and called me that day for an initial interview. Then, I think I had another in-person interview with the Front End Department Manager. It was short, about 10 mins, and they offered me the job right away.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
- Is your transportation reliable?
