First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Big W.
Christmas Casual
It was pretty straightforward. First, there was a questionnaire where I had to type out answers to five questions. It felt pretty chill because it was just a questionnaire. Then, there was a second round which was a video interview where I had to record myself answering questions, which was also quite simple.
- Can you share an instance where you exceeded expectations to assist someone?
Personal Shopper
Applied via WOW portal and got an email for a group interview. A leader gave a brief intro to Big W, uniform rules, and the job (picking/packing). The group had mostly older folks, about 14 people in total. They gave out free small chocolates! We did an icebreaker where you introduce your partner to the group. Then, we sat in our groups unsupervised while people were called out one by one for interviews, each about 15 minutes long. Once you finished, you could leave. I was rejected on the spot due to not being able to make it work with my availability and transport.
- What is your availability?
Store Associate
We all gathered for a group interview in the Staff room, there were about 20 of us split into 5 tables. We did 3 group activities: making a tree with Big W's values, figuring out how we'd give surprisingly helpful service, and selling a product that was put on the table. The whole point of the group interview was to have fun and work together with people we didn't know. I had a good time doing it.
- Can you describe how you would offer 'surprisingly helpful service'?
