Big Lots Business Analyst Interview Questions
& Process

Everyone was super nice and welcoming. I did the whole interview remotely. Even though I was a bit worried because of how the business was doing, the people I talked to were great. But, ultimately, Big Lots just wasn't the right fit for me.

The interview was pretty straightforward. It was in-person with two senior managers. They were very professional and knew exactly what they were looking for. The entire interview took about 45 minutes.

Applied online, and the process took several months because of an internal website deployment and everyone being busy. Then there was an initial phone interview. After dealing with technical phone issues, I finally had a phone interview with HR which went very well. They said they would share feedback with the hiring manager and get back to me in 1-2 weeks. The process dragged on for two months because HR was deploying a new website. After several more months, the interview was scheduled. The first person I interviewed with kept looking at the clock and rushed through questions like I was a machine, as if he had another meeting immediately afterward. He made no eye contact and only looked at his papers. The second interview was also not well-planned as the interviewer kept looking at my resume and interrupting my answers, essentially asking another question before I finished the previous one, with very little listening. HR wasn't even present for the second interview (reportedly sick... it's worth noting they've also missed calls or called late on previous occasions due to being sick). Finally, they tried to sell me on perks like the cafeteria having great and cheap burgers. The whole interview process and the excuses felt a bit strange. It also felt like the initial interviewer had a lot of knowledge but didn't share it. I wish them the best of luck. I believe an intelligent IT BA would certainly choose a better team environment to spend half of their life in.
