Sales Associate
You can apply online now, but I actually picked up my application in person before that started. They called me about a week after I applied to set up an interview. The interview was pretty straightforward, with no specific questions about products or my knowledge of them. To wrap things up, I was taken to the sales floor and given a quick math test. It covered basic operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with decimals and real numbers, all without using a calculator. They mentioned this was to check if I could handle transactions accurately even if the power failed and the registers went down. I thought it was an easy test, but I guess some people might struggle. I'm not sure what the 'passing' criteria are or if failing would mean not getting the job. They offered me the minimum wage, which was around $8/hr back then. About a week later, I was scheduled and started working.
- The math test was unexpected, but it wasn't too hard.
- The math test was unexpected, though not very difficult.
