First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BHP.
Graduate Engineer
The process started with an online HireVue interview which involved a few behavioural and scenario-based questions. For each question, there was a short prep time, and then a timed recorded response. The questions were about teamwork, decision-making, safety, and problem solving. The whole process felt structured and aligned with BHP’s values, especially around safety and collaboration.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Graduate Engineer
It was a pretty standard interview process, nothing too out of the ordinary. The interviewers were really nice and made everyone feel welcome. They asked about past challenges and how I dealt with them, specifically when I had to do something I wasn't comfortable with or when a project's direction changed suddenly.
- What motivated you to apply for this program?
- Can you tell me about a past difficult situation and how you managed it?
- Describe an instance where you had to utilize a skill beyond your usual expertise.
Graduate Engineer
Started with an online application where I just had to submit my CV and some basic info. Then there was an online test covering literacy, numeracy, and personality – thankfully, there are lots of practice tests online. After that, a phone interview, which was pretty standard with a mix of behavioral and motivational questions, so doing proper research beforehand is key. The final stage was the Assessment Centre, which is where they really assess your teamwork skills and you have your first individual interview. This part mostly involved behavioral testing.
