QA Engineer
So for a Deputy Manager level QA Engineer role, especially on a digital intelligence or billable engineering team, it's usually set up to check your technical skills and your potential to lead. While I don't have the exact Xtelify rundown, here's what's generally expected for your level: The first bit is an Initial Screening, basically an HR chat about your resume, what the job entails, pay, and when you can start. Just be ready to talk about what you've achieved in past QA jobs and any leadership stuff. Then you'll likely have Technical Interview(s) focusing on manual and automation testing, how to design tests, the bug process, and tools like Selenium, JIRA, TestNG. They might throw scenario questions at you like testing a login page or what you did when you found a big bug late. You could even be asked to write or look at test cases or fix some code. Next up is a Managerial/Leadership Round, where they'll ask about managing teams, talking to stakeholders, getting projects done, and sorting out disagreements. Like, how you'd deal with deadlines being missed or how you balance being good with quality versus being fast in sprints. The Final Round is usually with a Director/VP or might involve client interaction, focusing on your strategic thinking, how you align with business goals, and how you communicate with clients, especially since it's a billable role. This round often checks if you can represent QA in team discussions. Finally, if everything goes well, you get an Offer and can negotiate based on your level and experience.
- When working in a rapid, agile setting, how do you maintain quality without slowing things down?
- What actions did you take when you discovered a significant bug late in the development cycle?
- Could you explain your approach to managing missed deadlines within a QA phase?
QA Engineer
The whole process took over a month and had 3 rounds. The HR person wasn't clear about the job role. There were big delays in getting responses. I answered pretty much all the questions in the final round, but still got rejected after two weeks with no reason given. If you're not sure about hiring someone, don't waste their time. It was a terrible interview process.
- What are the 401 and 401 API error codes?
- Can you explain how to handle windows in Selenium code?
QA Engineer
I was shortlisted for QA Engineer profile for Wynk Limited. HR called me and confirmed my availability for interview. When I reached the office, I faced issues with parking as there's no visitor parking, I had to park on the road which was risky. After managing to park, I reached the interview room and the HR directed me for the technical interview. The interviewer was friendly but didn't ask any questions related to the QA Engineer profile. My experience and skills didn't seem to help as the interview was baseless and the answers needed to be appropriate as per the interviewer's expectations. I was not happy with the interview process as their job description and the actual interview were totally different.
- Puzzle questions were asked
- Questions not related to the job were asked
