BHEL conducts an All India level entrance test. If you have maintained over 65% marks throughout your academic career, you are eligible to apply. This written test has 250 questions and a time limit of 2 hours and 30 minutes. The paper includes both technical questions (from electronics, electrical, and mechanical disciplines) and aptitude questions. After this, selected candidates will be invited for an interview at various locations for the candidate's convenience, such as Mumbai, Calcutta, Delhi, or Bangalore. The company will cover transportation costs for the interview. Additional facilities like lunch and tea/coffee are also provided. Document verification was carried out before the interview. The interview panel consists of five people: two technical experts, two HR professionals, and one psychologist. They begin with general questions to help you relax, then move on to technical questions, and finally, they ask questions like why you wish to join this company and your expectations from it. The interview typically lasts for 20-30 minutes.

The initial step involved shortlisting candidates based on their graduation marks. This was followed by a panel interview with four interviewers and one candidate. The interview focused on general engineering concepts and tested the candidate's ability to apply theoretical knowledge practically. They also inquired about current affairs and subjects related to the company's work. An explanation of the internship was also requested.

We started with a written MCQ exam, followed by a personal interview. The panel included 4 senior management members from BHEL, one of whom was from HR. The interview started with discussing my engineering scores, then moved on to my previous job history and my reasons for wanting to join BHEL.
