I wanted to thank you for letting me interview. It was put together well and I appreciated how upfront and respectful of my time everyone was. I really liked how clear the communication was throughout, and how professional the people I met were. The questions really showed they knew the job and what the company is trying to do. It was also great to hear about the company vibe and how the team works together.

I got referred by someone I know. First, I talked to a recruiter who got my info and said there would be about two more interviews: one for culture fit and one technical. The next interview was with the team director and two managers. We seemed to click until the end when they hit me with some technical questions. They were mostly troubleshooting scenarios that were super vague. Even with 5 years of IT and support experience, I struggled to give them what they wanted. Questions like 'Someone can't remote into a server, what do you do?' have a ton of variables. I tried to cover every possibility and troubleshooting step I could think of. The last four questions were direct tech questions: two about Linux, one about SQL, and one about Windows. I was honest about not using Linux much recently, but after a moment, I think I handled them okay, except for mixing up 'root' and 'super user' for the most privileged user. I nailed the Windows and SQL questions. Despite this, I didn't get the job. The feedback was that I lacked the necessary technical knowledge and couldn't be trained up, which contradicts what my contact at the company said. They also mentioned the job wouldn't involve much Linux work. I felt some questions were intentionally unclear and the direct OS questions were unnecessary. Overall, the team seemed supportive, but the role is vague and customer-facing. I wouldn't recommend this job to anyone wanting to avoid customer interaction. Also, ladies, be cautious.

The process involved two stages: first, a chat with the talent acquisition team for general fit, and second, a chat with the hiring managers that was more technical and specific to the role. The whole thing was really professional and friendly.
