The first part was a call with the hiring manager and recruiter. They asked me about my past experience and then gave me a scenario to work out test plans. I was a bit unsure when I asked about what happens after finishing a project - they were hesitant, saying someone could leave the company or be assigned to other projects. There wasn't a clear path forward.

I applied for the Data Engineer position through LinkedIn and was contacted by an HR person on WhatsApp. They sent me company info and set up the interview via text. The interview day came and I met the interviewer from China. The whole interview was in Chinese, which was hard to translate in real-time. It went for about 20 minutes, and they started asking questions right away. At the end, they asked me to do a Python test, but I said no because I'm not good with Python.

Interviewers didn't introduce themselves, and their use of English alias names made it impossible to research them on platforms like LinkedIn. The HR department failed to mention if multiple interviewers would be present, necessitating a request for introductions and role clarifications. Language barriers and limited understanding of the Chinese business landscape could present challenges.

I got contacted by a TA on LinkedIn who told me about the job location and scope. My resume was then reviewed by the Tech Hiring Manager, and we had a technical interview. He asked me questions about DevOps topics, like CI/CD and system design for a Web App with CI/CD. He was encouraging and patient, prompting me to expand on my answers to ensure I understood everything. I actually learned a lot during the interview. I've accepted the offer. There were 2 rounds in total, the first with BeyondSoft and the second with their contracted IT company.
