The whole process was pretty simple and the recruiter was super helpful in getting things set up. There were 3 rounds of interviews. First up was a quick chat with a recruiter to go over general stuff about my experience and what I'm looking for. Then, I had a 30-minute Zoom call with the VP of flavor, where most of the questions were about my previous research and work, all pretty technical. If that went well, the final round was a 3-hour Zoom with the Beyond Meat team. This involved a 45-minute to 1-hour presentation on my past projects, split into 45 mins for the work itself and 10-15 mins on what I can bring to the company. After that, I had individual 30-minute one-on-one sessions with different groups, with questions mostly about my past background and some behavioral stuff.

Had a phone call first, then flew out for a day in the office before covid. During the day, I did a presentation and then met with around 10 different people. They were super helpful and sorted out my travel and hotel since I was coming from out of state.

The hiring process had two main parts. First, there was a 30-minute phone screening with the Head of Innovation, which actually lasted about 15 minutes. It was pretty basic, mostly covering my resume and my interest in the role. Then, an HR person followed up about the second interview, a longer 2.5-hour session. It kicked off with a PowerPoint presentation where I discussed my background, specifically diving deep into two research projects, and then explained how my skills align with Beyond Meat. This presentation part took about 45 minutes, and I was the only one speaking during that time with the 7 employees on Zoom. The rest of the call involved me talking with two pairs of people, including a research associate and the head of flavor. The last person I spoke with was the head of tissue engineering. They all asked insightful questions, some related to my presentation or resume, others about my experience with Beyond Meat products and my interest in the alternative protein field. It was a long process, but I felt good about it afterward. I never heard back from Beyond Meat, so I'm assuming I didn't get the job, which was disappointing because I felt they could have at least let me know.
