Associate Product Manager
The entire interview process spanned 3 weeks. It started with a phone screen, followed by an interview with two product managers. The final round was scheduled to include two 45-minute interviews: a cultural interview with three UX Designers and a technical interview with the director of software dev, a developer, and a PM. However, two hours before the scheduled interviews, I received an email from the recruiter stating that the position had been filled and the interviews were canceled. Overall, it was a good experience, though I found it strange that no one, not even the recruiter, seemed to smile.
- Given that the industry average bounce rate for this page is 40% and this page has a 70% bounce rate, what do you think is happening based on the image?
- Can you describe the most difficult or complex feature you've worked on?
Product Manager
I was contacted about a week after submitting my resume for a Product Manager role and got scheduled for an HR phone screen. The HR screen was brief and straightforward, mainly reviewing my resume. My second interview involved a panel of three group product managers. Unfortunately, I was not well-prepared for this interview and received a rejection email two weeks later, which I anticipated. I had thought I was interviewing for a more junior position, but it turned out to be for a group PM role, for which I lacked the necessary experience. It's surprising I passed the initial HR screen. The second interview felt like a waste of time for both me and the interviewers, and I ended it as quickly as I could.
- What specific improvements would you suggest for the website?
- Which product manager do you admire the most and why?
- Can you share your favorite books or resources for product management?
Product Manager
I had a phone interview that went really well. Then I was set up for about 3 hours of interviews and lunch with the department head at the end. After two hours of interviews with people at different levels, the department head showed up and canceled the lunch interview, saying her plans changed. I asked if she had any questions for me, but she didn't ask anything. They emailed me later saying they chose someone else, but they reposted the job opening soon after.
- Can you tell me everything you can about UX design?
- What are your thoughts on product roadmaps?
- Describe your experience with managing a backlog.
