Software Engineer II
The interview process involved a phone screen, followed by meetings with product folks, engineers, and engineering leadership. I especially want to highlight the technical interview with engineers. It was a great mix of technical depth, being open-ended, and adaptable. Honestly, it was the best technical interview I've had, where they asked me to showcase my expertise without forcing me into some boring algorithmic problem that doesn't reflect actual work. The chat with engineering leadership was also really fluid, giving me plenty of space to express myself while staying on track and relevant.
- When you start at a new company, what's your immediate course of action?
Software Developer
The interview process was a highlight for me. I really don't like live coding tests, and they were super accommodating, opting for a code review exercise instead. I'm not sure if this is their standard procedure or if it was a special arrangement for me, but I found it way more productive than the typical coding tests most companies use. The rest of the interview journey was also great, and they even set up an extra call for me when I had more questions.
- Can you share some of your past experiences?
- What kind of experience do you have?
- Tell me about your background.
Software Engineer
Had a quick Zoom pre-screen with the hiring manager, about 15-20 minutes. It was pretty straightforward, but the manager dropped some major red flags. They admitted communication is rough company-wide and that it's definitely not a 9-5 job, with overtime expected all the time. So, heads up about what you might be signing up for.
- Can you walk me through your experience that relates to this role?
