It was a pretty relaxed management interview. The assistant managers could improve their communication with staff. All in all, it was a decent interview. If you can deal with customers getting pretty loud when you have to ask for a valid ID at the register, you'll be fine with the job.

The interview questions were pretty direct. They wanted to know about me as a person, like what I enjoy doing. They asked if I followed the local sports teams and if I enjoyed going out, basically probing my personality. The store manager initially doubted my ability to sell due to my size, but I've been developing physically, and he's started trusting me with more responsibilities since hiring me. After getting approval from all the managers, there was also a drug test.

The interview process was quite awkward. The head cashier brought five of us together in a room and interviewed us all at the same time. He would move from one person to the next, asking the same question repeatedly. The questions he asked didn't seem related to the cashier position, and some of the information requested was personal and uncomfortable to share with the group.

Had an initial interview with a store manager, then the DM, and finally another store manager. I had to initiate contact, and it took a week for a follow-up. The people were nice, but the interviewing process could be more structured. Corporate also didn't send a courtesy email about the final decision.

  • How hands-on are you?
