Communications Strategist
The HR team did a great job organizing my interviews. Kellie at Periscope was really helpful, giving me all the info I needed beforehand and afterwards to help me succeed. Everyone I met was super nice and seemed genuinely happy to chat. The two main people I talked to were great and we had a really good conversation about media, it felt more like talking with colleagues than an interview. When I met with my potential manager, she was really laid-back and happy to answer anything. I asked some direct questions and she gave me honest answers.
- Would you describe yourself as an expert in a specific area or a jack of all trades?
- Considering my background as you understand it, do you think this role would be a promotion, a lateral move, or a step down for me?
Paid Search Planner
I went through 2 in-person interviews. The first one was a group interview with 2 VPs and a manager, lasting about 25 minutes. They asked me a lot of questions really fast, mostly about my past work, tool experience, and other basic paid search stuff. They had 5 minutes left at the end for me to ask questions, which felt super rushed. After that, I had an interview with HR, but it gave me a bad feeling. She barely made eye contact and seemed distracted when I was answering. Communication was pretty weak throughout the whole thing. HR was also slow to get back to me. I guess that's why I didn't get the job, and they didn't even tell me for like 2-3 weeks after the interview.
- Can you tell me the amount of media spend you currently manage?
- Which tools are you familiar with using?
- Describe your process for optimizing a paid search campaign.
Account Executive
I filled out an online questionnaire and then got contacted about two weeks later via email for an in-person interview. The role seemed a bit below my experience level, but I was really keen to join the company, especially because the main client was in an industry I wanted to get into. I met with a senior leader who arrived 20 minutes late and hadn't looked at my resume. She mentioned I was over-qualified and that they wouldn't be able to meet my salary expectations. It turned out to be a waste of both our time. This situation could have been sorted out by HR with a quick phone call, rather than jumping straight to an in-person meeting.
- How do you approach client service?
- Can you describe a project you led?
Project Manager
I had two interviews. The first interview was with 3 people and the second one with 5 people. Make sure to make eye contact with each person and be as personable as you can as they are trying to figure out if you would be a good fit for the company personality wise but also whether you'd be a good fit for their team and the role they are filling.
- Describe a challenging situation you faced with a coworker and explain how you resolved it.
- Could you share three of your strengths and three of your weaknesses?
- Can you walk us through your project management process and the tools you utilize?
